The Sip Score™ answers one simple question:
Should you drink it?
We rate every whiskey (bourbon, rye, single malts, etc) on a 0.1–10.0 scale.
No round numbers. No fluff. Every decimal matters.
Whether it’s a budget bottle or a barrel-proof release, our scoring system is designed to be honest, repeatable, and most of all—useful.
How to Read the Sip Score™
9.0 – 10.0
🟢 Elite. Must-Try Whiskey.
Bottles in this range deliver rare balance, flavor depth, and finish that puts them in a class of their own. These are shelf leaders, conversation starters, and memorable pours you don’t forget.
8.0 – 8.9
🟢 Excellent. Buy Without Hesitation.
Standout bottles with real personality and precision. They bring something unique to the table—whether it’s proof, texture, or flavor evolution—and always leave an impression.
7.0 – 7.9
🟢 Very Good. Belongs in Your Rotation.
These are strong performers. Maybe not mind-blowing, but well-made and enjoyable across multiple pours. The kind of bottle you come back to without overthinking it.
6.0 – 6.9
🟡 Just Okay. Try Before You Buy.
Good, not great. These whiskies are drinkable but usually lack dimension, excitement, or value. They might work for casual pours, but they don’t stand out in today’s crowded field.
Below 6.0
🔴 Skip It. Too Many Better Options.
Uninspired or off-balance. These are bottles we don’t recommend. With so many great options available, these just don’t earn the pour—or your money.
❌ Why Aren’t There Tasting Notes?
Everyone experiences whiskey differently. What smells like cherry pie to one person might come across as leather and clove to another. That’s part of the beauty of the pour.
We don’t include tasting notes in our reviews because we believe in palate freedom.
You should decide what it tastes like.
We’ll just tell you if it’s worth drinking.
